I came so close to just giving up on this book。 It was very repetitive and predictable。 I basically kept on reading because I’d accepted an ARC and felt that I owed it to the publisher to read the whole thing before I gave it a bad review。 And I was somewhat curious to see how the hero and heroine could get out the dead-end romantic trap they find themselves in where Celeste’s father insists she marry a wealthy earl and Kieran’s parents are forcing him and his brother and best friend to all get I came so close to just giving up on this book。 It was very repetitive and predictable。 I basically kept on reading because I’d accepted an ARC and felt that I owed it to the publisher to read the whole thing before I gave it a bad review。 And I was somewhat curious to see how the hero and heroine could get out the dead-end romantic trap they find themselves in where Celeste’s father insists she marry a wealthy earl and Kieran’s parents are forcing him and his brother and best friend to all get married to respectable ladies。 Kieran’s solution to their dilemma was the only surprise in the book。 I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book that I received from Netgalley; however， the opinions are my own and I did not receive any compensation for my review。 。。。more

I loved this book。 It is my favorite type of romance novel， where the characters meet at the beginning and the entire book is devoted to them。 Celeste and Kieran have a fantastic time getting to know each other。 I am now eagerly awaiting Last Chance Scoundrels， #2。

The new series from Eva Leigh， Last Chance Scoundrels， has wonderful potential based on book one， The Good Girl’s Guide to Rakes。He needs to repair his reputation in order to meet eligible women。 She wants to take a walk on the wild side just once before she has to marry the man her father thinks will cement their status in society。 Celeste has cultivated a placid exterior but she has an adventurous heart， a sharp mind， and a clever wit which cannot be on display for her and her family to succee The new series from Eva Leigh， Last Chance Scoundrels， has wonderful potential based on book one， The Good Girl’s Guide to Rakes。He needs to repair his reputation in order to meet eligible women。 She wants to take a walk on the wild side just once before she has to marry the man her father thinks will cement their status in society。 Celeste has cultivated a placid exterior but she has an adventurous heart， a sharp mind， and a clever wit which cannot be on display for her and her family to succeed in the eyes of the “ton”。 Her family’s nouveau riches come with constraints。 To find some freedom， she makes a deal with her brother’s best friend。 Kieran thinks she’ll be a liability when they explore London’s “dark” side as she will be out of her element and need protecting， but he finds out that he may be needing protection from her。Just like all of us， Celeste and Kieran are complex and contradictory。 As they spend time together they come to appreciate each other’s contradictions。 The gaming hells and parties were the initial draw for Celeste， but Kieran becomes the adventure that Celeste had been looking for all along。Leigh brings a former couple back from her Union of the Rakes series。 Curtis and Rowe show up at a party which was a nice touch。 I look forward to reading about the remaining Scoundrels as they only have one year to find and marry a respectable woman。 Thank you NetGalley and Avon Books for the ARC in exchange for an honest review。An aside: Normally when “good girls” attend these types of events in other books they wear a domino mask and wig but Celeste used only makeup and a wig。 This may have been far fetched for me but then again people see what they want to see。 。。。more

I loved this so much。 Kieran and Celeste are just so perfect for each other。 I did want him to punch her intended but I still throughly enjoyed what he did instead。I received an arc through netgalley。

I loved this book。 In it， Keran Ransome is forced by his parents to stop his rakish ways and marry a proper lady within one year。 He enters into a pact with Celeste， his friend's sister， who will help him meet ladies of the right breeding and in return he will introduce her to some late night adventures so she can experience more of life before she is married off。 The entirety of the book is mostly them "dating" by going to events and places together but they are so cute and clearly enjoy spendi I loved this book。 In it， Keran Ransome is forced by his parents to stop his rakish ways and marry a proper lady within one year。 He enters into a pact with Celeste， his friend's sister， who will help him meet ladies of the right breeding and in return he will introduce her to some late night adventures so she can experience more of life before she is married off。 The entirety of the book is mostly them "dating" by going to events and places together but they are so cute and clearly enjoy spending time together。 There is a little conflict that keeps them apart， of course， but they do get their HEA and hearing about their exploits are very enjoyable。 I will definitely read the next two books on Finn Ransome and Dom Kilburn， the two others that also need to marry within a year。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it， click here。 *I was able to read this book early via NetGalley*I'm a sucker for the "woman helps to prepare a man for respectable society and they end up falling in love" trope， and this book was no exception。 The chemistry between Celeste and Kieran started early and burned hot the whole way through。 In fact， I was pleasantly surprised by how quickly they both independently acknowledged the attraction， though it took a while before they were willing to do anything about it。 It made for a nice change from so *I was able to read this book early via NetGalley*I'm a sucker for the "woman helps to prepare a man for respectable society and they end up falling in love" trope， and this book was no exception。 The chemistry between Celeste and Kieran started early and burned hot the whole way through。 In fact， I was pleasantly surprised by how quickly they both independently acknowledged the attraction， though it took a while before they were willing to do anything about it。 It made for a nice change from so many romance characters doing their utmost to avoid their own feelings。The best parts of this book involved Celeste learning to be joyful and free again， and Kieran not only helping her to do to that but falling in love with her because of it。 Celeste's scenes as Salome were delightful and funny - and carried just the barest hint of danger， as all the best types of rule-breaking do。 Along with Celeste， I couldn't wait to find out what adventure Kieran had planned next， and found that none of them disappointed。*spoilers ahead*My biggest qualm came with Lord Montford。 While he certainly plained the part of the terrible intended splendidly - particularly after revealing that he knew Celeste's secret and was willing to use it against her - I felt that he gave in to Kieran's scheme a bit too quickly， running away with his tail between his legs。 After such a build-up of tension over how Celeste and Kieran could ever possibly be together， it felt like the danger dissipated almost too easily， and with too little action and agency on Celeste's part。 I know the rules of Regency etiquette apply， but I would have loved to see her stand up for herself just a bit more at the end， rather than leaving it all to Kieran to sort out。 All that said， this was still a joyful and fun read， and I can't wait for the second installment of the series！4/5 。。。more

Omg， what a fun， sexy， empowering read。 I’m obsessed with everything about this one。 I love that we get two MCs who like to go out and be a little wild and getting their HEA doesn’t stop them from having that fun。 ❤️ With a whole lot of dirty talking and a dash of guyliner， Celeste & Kieran are relationship goals。

Best friend’s sibling is a trope I will never get sick of， and this was a great use of it。 The tension between the main characters was amazing。 I definitely enjoyed it more the further I got into the story， as they worked through the various issues keeping them apart。 I loved Celeste’s independence and intelligence， and Kieran’s maturation without losing his personality and fun。 I’m definitely already excited for Finn’s story！

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it， click here。 I loved the beginning and the ending of this book。 However， I thought that it lacked a strong middle。 The book reminded me of a bridge where the two end sections were solid but the middle was still under construction。 However， given the publication date of this title， I am sure it will go through another round （at least） of edits。 The message of the multidimensional nature of people really resonated with me。 So many times people are put in boxes， and this was a nice exploration of the idea that I loved the beginning and the ending of this book。 However， I thought that it lacked a strong middle。 The book reminded me of a bridge where the two end sections were solid but the middle was still under construction。 However， given the publication date of this title， I am sure it will go through another round （at least） of edits。 The message of the multidimensional nature of people really resonated with me。 So many times people are put in boxes， and this was a nice exploration of the idea that identity is more multifaceted than that。I liked the way the relationship between Kieran and Celeste developed from a business arrangement to one in which they learned to trust and support each other。 I thought it was the strongest piece of the book。I read another ARC with a Beverly Jenkins cameo so I assume this is a trend。 If so I approve of it wholeheartedly。 Ms。 Jenkins is rightly a legend in romance and deserves her flowers。 I was less enamored of the focus on Kieran wearing eyeliner。 It was mentioned too often for me without being mentioned in context with other ways he disguised his appearance。 As of right now， this book is a 3。25 for me but with a stronger middle section it could easily be a 4。0。I received an eARC of this book courtesy of NetGalley and the publishers。 All opinions are my own。 。。。more
